The Olav H. Hauge Centre

Olav H. Hauge (1908–1994) is one of our foremost poets and translators, and he lived his entire life in Ulvik. At the Haugesenteret, you can get to know Hauge's life story and poetic works better, and experience poetry in many forms and across language barriers. The museum offers experiences for both children and adults. Located beautifully by the fjord, with views of the mountains from the old municipal building in Ulvik.
The Hauge Centre is beautifully situated on the quay by the fjord in Ulvik. You will get to know the works and life of the great poet, and you may discover poetry in many varieties in new and exciting ways. There are exhibits, a library of poetry, a poetry workshop, a museum shop and a cafe. Nynorsk kultursentrum, managing both the Hauge Centre and the Ivar Aasen Centre in Ørsta, received the Norwegian Museum of the Year Award in 2015.
