There has always been plenty of fish in the sea off the Nordmøre coast. Settlements and businesses along the coast are still based on cod, coley, pollack, torsk, herring and mackerel fishing that provide a livelihood for the fishermen.
Recreational fishing along the coast and in the sea is a year-round passion and hobby for many. Cod weighing up to 6 - 8 kg are not unusual, and most get to experience catching a coley every time they cast their line.
Our fishing lakes are fresh and clean and full of high quality trout and char. We try to protect our rivers from being invaded by foreign species and contagious diseases. This work has made it possible for us to harvest several tonnes of high quality salmon and trout. Anglers must therefore respect the guidelines that apply to all recreational fishing to the benefit of themselves and everyone else.
There is no charge for fishing for saltwater fish; a state fee for salmon and trout fishing is payable at the post office. Licenses for salmon and trout fishing in rivers and lakes may be purchased locally from the landowners, petrol stations, shops or at the Tourist Information Office.
