Kristiansund and Nordmøre Tourist - KNT - was founded in 1888 and its goal was to make the mountains on Nordmøre known and available for hikers and skiers. The area includes Nordmøre with areas Innderdalen ogTrollheimen Sunndalsfjella and Dovrefjell. The work consisted in beginnig of marking routes, construction of cottages and lodging. Later, the trekking association KNT, started on the hiking trail Fjordruta. which is a continuous route from Kristiasnund through Aure, Hemne, Rindal, Surandal and Halsa. Fjordruta is a unique in oastal walking route associated with sea and fjord. The route includes 13 cottages.
All tours to the huts that KNT is managing, are marked with red T's total of approximately 1,000 km. The different tours are described on ut.no.
Some cottages are open while others need a key. This can be bought all over Norway, with the different trekking association or at touristsinfomrations. The key can be used on any tourist cabins in the country. Some cottages have fishing rods for rent. Most cottages are self-catering, you will find equipment to cook and you can buy most of the food with the exception of fresh produce at the cabins. If you stay overnight in one of the cabins, you can pay by credit card or you can pay with cash. Information can be found at the cabins.
