Norwegian Mountaineering Museum

The Norwegian Mountaineering Museum offers a unique experience showcasing the development of steep outdoor activities. Discover the fascination of mountain climbing and learn more about the race between local and international climbers to reach the top first. At the museum, you can test and get a feel of what it's like to dangle in a hanging tent on a cliff, experience the thrill of zooming down mountain sides like a base jumper, and shudder at the sight of early safety and climbing gear.

The exhibition in the Norwegian Mountaineering Museum has 16 exciting installations that convey various aspects of mountaineering. The installations encourage interactivity, learning, and play for both adults and children. True stories have been dramatized, old equipment is brought to light, and you can test your climbing skills. Additionally, you can view a range of theme videos, illustrative pictures, texts, and documentation.
