Child wandering path Kvinesdal - Snartemo

The Childrens Hiking path "Barnevandrerstien" go from Kvinesdal in the west, to Grimstad in the east. This is Stage 1: Kvinesdal - Snartemo, around 11 km hiking .

In Kvinesdal, the trail is well marked from Kvinesdal to Snartemo in Hægebostad, up the hills to the Mydland and on to Konsmo. First stage (11 km) from Årli in Kvinesdal to Snartemo the terrain is open bogs and groves, passing several beautiful mountain lakes. The highest point is 500 meters.

Stage 1: Kvinesdal - Snartemo, 11 km: A pleasent start.

This stage is the starting point of the Child Wanderer Path. It begins in the western part of the county of Vest-Agder in the municipality of Kvinesdal, by Årlia. It ends at the Bauta park near Snartemo train station in the municipality of Hægebostad. If traveling by train, exit at Storekvina station and go by pre-ordered taxi directly to Årlia (this has to be arranged at least a couple of days in advance, contact www.nsb.no). Årlia is located near to the toll road that runs from Moi in Kvinesdal to Birkeland in Hægebostad. Årlia is approximately a 15 minutes car ride from Liknes. There is ample parking at the illuminated skiing route in Årlia . After parking, follow the toll road for approximately one kilometer to reach the starting point.

From Årlia, the Child Wanderer Path is well marked. The terrain is open with marshes and forests. You pass several beautiful mountain lakes as well as nice viewing points. The highest point along this stage of the path is about 500 meters above sea level. The last two kilometers of this stage follow the main road. There are few changes in the altitude of the terrain, which means this stage is relatively easy to walk.

A good tip is to bring along the “Tour and Adventure map” about Kvinesheia. The map can be purchased at Kvina Foto in Liknes or from Birkeland Handelslag in Hægebostad.

This stage runs for nearly 11 kilometers, and the time used will off course be related to your pace. A family with young children should allow for 5-7 hours. If it is more convenient to do a roundtrip, we recommend walking from Årlia to the "Priest" before returning. (Approximately 6.5 kilometers each direction).

Stop at Storekvina train station, and order a taxi to the starting point of the trail; phone number +47 90 47 92 40. You should be driving towards Årlia on the road from Moi in Kvinesdal to Birkeland in Hægebostad.

The next leg of Snartemo Bauta Park ends at Konsmo Church is 18 km and runs in steep terrain. Along the way you pass Mydland Deer Farm, along the beautiful Hellevann with many nice picnic areas.
