Bergen Matfestival - food festival

Welcome to the celebration of the tasteful local food made between the mountains and fjords in Fjord Norway.

The food festival spreads out in the centre of Bergen, and you get to meet lots of local food producers at their food stands. In addition we have festival menus at the festival restaurants and you may also join great food courses with chefs and local food producers

Local food party at Festplassen and Torgallmenningen:
At Torgallmenningen and Festplassen you get to taste the best of food and drink produced in Western Norway. This is the places where you get to buy local vegetables, fruits and berries, and cheeses, meats and seafood directly from the producers. 

Picnic in Byparken and Bar Lokal:
In the middle of Festplassen you will also find "Bar lokal" with a real festival atmosphere and DJ. Enjoy the variety of locally produced drinks from cider and beer to gin and aquavit. 

UngMatfest - For children and young foodies:
During the festival, you will get to taste, sense and learn. Ung Matfest is for children between 6 and 16 years old. Here, the youngest festival guests get to know about the foods from the sea, learn to cook outdoors and try new flavors such as seaweed and kelp.

Learn from the best! Inspirational food course:
In the marquee at Torget you will find tasting courses for those over 18 years old. Participate in exciting courses, such as "Grill, chill and cider" and learn from the best chefs and producers. Learn how to make pizza from the chefs at Hoggorm, and be inspired by the seafood from visiting chefs from other international cities that also holds the status of creative gastronomy cities in the UNESCO network. Festival at restaurant:
During the festival, over 30 restaurants will have festival events that show you unique, local flavors in a whole new way. Several of the restaurants have festival menus throughout the week.

An inclusive festival:
Bergen Food Festival is a festival with a heart for the whole city. That is why we spread out, not only all in the city center, but also in several new arenas. Join a lecture about food in the community at Bergen Public Library, or maybe you would rather enjoy a dinner at Lystgården? Food affects every aspect of our lives, and the program for the Bergen Food Festival should reflect this by being an inclusive festival where we think about sustainability in its broadest sense.
