"Hildo" was the old church bell called that sounded over Vossevangen from the tower of Vangskyrkja in the old days. There are several legends and folk tones in honour of the bell, which was known for its unusual fine and strong timbre.
Five fantastic musicians, with Tore Brunborg and Berit Opheim at the forefront, have taken their output in various folk tones and "slåtter" from Voss, Sogn and Hardanger, and serve these in new arrangements and with newly composed themes. There will be ballads, "bånsull", "stev", children's songs, hymns and "slåtter", in the hands of musicians who go "Hildo" even a high time when it comes to sound and strength.
Hildo, who premiered on Vossajazz 2018, received fantastic reviews from both the public and the press:
"Along with a bunch of short travelling musicians, the old folk music is easily puffed up and added to a modern tone suit. Beautiful, exciting and seductive. Not least Berit Opheim's magnificent "kveding" creates an expression you can't find anywhere else. A packed cinema gave tribute to the musicians with standing applause in the end. My pleasure. These are real Norwegian export goods in line with salmon and oil. ”E. Engelstad - BT
"So sensuously beautiful, so worked through on every level, and so unquestionably well done by five of our greatest musicians." N. Kvamsdal, Hordaland
