Who was Engebret Soot?

No man has had such great importance for our district as Engebret Soot. But he was not just a local size. By the author Jonas Lie he and Ole Bull were referred to as the two great natural geniuses of the century. Still most people know who Ole Bull was, but who knows today about Engebret Soot?

Soot was a housewife, as with, inspiration in an old physics book, fin blood in the years, mythological charm and a tremendous work ability; finally the founder of the entire Halden Canal. He was a capacity in words, actions and ideas. Strong human emotions, tremendous courage, lofty, fearless, musical; but also impulsive, temperamental and selfish. The Soot game tells the story of the man and the people around him.

"The lock game about Engebret Soot" was originally written by Ole Karsten Andersen in 1986 and has since been performed on various occasions. The present piece has been processed and expanded by Anneli Sollie. Newly written music by Henning Kvitnes.

2015-2018 has been completed with strong roles by Dennis Storhøi, Samuel Fröler, Kjersti Elvik, Alexander Rybak; and the many amazing amateurs!
