A festival with an ear to the present
Through concerts, sound art, music theatre, exhibitions, dance and talks, the Ultima Festival embraces the full spectrum of experimental and innovative sound experiences. For ten days in September, Oslo pulses with sound and life – across stages, clubs, museums and out in the streets. The programme spans a wide range: from classical contemporary music to pop, jazz, folk, noise, improvisation and rock.
This year’s Ultima explores the space between the “I” and the “we”, and how we navigate between the individual and the collective. From co-creation to individual journeys, the festival opens with City Lines, where solo voices, urban soundscapes and choirs come together to form a shared sonic landscape.
On the programme
The festival line-up includes both Norwegian and international names such as Afrorack, Aki Onda, Bára Gísladóttir, Ewa Jacobsson, Golnaz Shariatzadeh, Hans Rosenström, Henrik Hellstenius, Hilde Marie Holsen, Ictus, Joanna Bailie, Johannes Kreidler, Jessie Cox, Kim Myhr, Kristine Tjøgersen, Kronos Quartet, Lawrence Abu Hamdan, Moe Chakiri, NEXCYIA, ONLY SLIME, Tale Dolven, Transiteatret, Trond Reinholdtsen, Wayne McGregor – and many more.
