The Brazilian composer Heitor Villa-Lobos is regarded as Brazil's most important classical composer and can be compared to "Brazil's Grieg". He created a unique musical language where Brazilian rhythms and folk music met European art music.
In this special concert Johnny Kristiansen and Tino Andersen share the stage to present a wide selection of Villa-Lobos' music for guitar. Both have a strong connection to Brazil through studies, work and extended stays in the country, and bring with them a closeness to the culture and music that has shaped the composer's expression.
Audiences will experience everything from lyrical and contemplative moments to virtuosic and energetic works from one of guitar history's most significant composers.
