Welcome to a physical dance experience that will have you sitting on the edge of your seat. Horácio Macuacua lets rhythm become body: a language of muscles, sweat and breath. It is gravity and liberation, weight and play.

The rhythm knocks – on doors, in the chest, through the floor. The rhythm speaks before we have words, it moves us before we understand. The rhythm is everywhere. Can you feel it?

The ensemble in Norrdans is thrown into a powerful current, lifted by the unstoppable energy of the rhythms. They fall, rise and breathe in a common tempo. The rhythm becomes a universal alphabet — it fuses us together into one body, one room, one moment.

Knocking celebrates rhythm as a language in itself. The rhythm in the music, in the steps, in the space, in the breath, in the feeling. The performance explores the intimate relationship we create with rhythm in all its forms, both external and internal, and reveals its power to unite, communicate and transform.

The rhythm becomes a relationship we hold in and are held by — a force that knocks on the doors of the unresolved stories within us. Together we move towards something profound, like a pulse that weaves us together.
