Sofi // Bergen Kjøtt

Sofi is a band from Bergen with a warm, acoustic soundscape where electronic elements are woven into an organic and honest expression. The music combines a childlike wonder with reflective lyrics about growing up, feeling like an outsider and finding belonging after moving to a new place as a child.

Vocalist and songwriter Sofia Guidi, with roots from Italy and Paraguay, writes and sings in English, Italian and Spanish, with touches of Guaraní. The multilingual approach mirrors an identity marked by intersecting cultures and personal searching, which is also reflected in the melodic expression. The soundscape is acoustic and intimate, with strumming banjo and double bass, warm and rounded saxophone and vocals, and small melodic motifs in interplay with experimental electronic elements. The music is characterised by a playful and naive tonality, while also holding seriousness and reflection.

The band has already made its mark in the Bergen music scene through concerts at among others Dragefjellet Minifestival, Bergen Kjøtt, Landmark, Nattjazz, Lystgården and Vill Vill Vest, where they have played with and warmed up for artists such as SYMRE, Sanyu and August Selnes.
