The Woman(s) and the Black Bird is based on Ninni Roll Anker's novel "The Woman and the Black Bird". The novel has been republished in 2026, but was originally published in 1942. The novel is almost eerily current..., a century after World War II.
“We must make amends for our colossal ignorance and become human,” writes Ninni Roll Anker. “We are the ones responsible for life on earth, only we. And it will not change until we acknowledge it and act on it/…/ until then it will never change.”
Panter Tanter Produksjoner by Berit Rusten has adapted the novel text in Ninni Roll Anker's "The Woman and the Black Bird" by extracting text fragments from the novel. The text fragments do not provide a "dramatization" of a course, but are the starting point for an interdisciplinary happening, where the echo of the words, tones, images and dance may be the starting point for reflection.... And preferably a reflection oriented towards the following statement "Without PEACE, EVERYTHING is nothing".
Panter Tanter Produksjoner, which consists of three mature women, Kari Hustad, Berit Rusten and Sissel Horghagen, will sing, speak and use body movements in performing the text, as a kind of mini-speaking choir, interspersed with singing, washboard, kantele and perhaps more instruments?
Vitor Antonio Monico Truzzi will dance the black bird.
He is Brazilian and has danced extensively internationally before coming to Norway.
Aimeé Kaspersen comes in as "an outside eye" the last week before the premiere.
The staging will take place at Stillverk 1, at the time Norway's smallest theater stage run by Annika Udo (Teater Visuell). Panter Tanter Produksjoner has previously staged "Tahirih..Iranian Women's Voices" directed by Kate Pendry there. Stillverk 1 has been dormant for a few years, but has now been given new life.
"The Woman(s) and the Black Bird" is supported with a small amount by Trondheim Municipality.
