Swimming in the river and mountain lakes in Gol

Want to cool off on a hot summer day or enjoying a calm day of fishing and swimming in the mountains? Gol offers valleys with rivers and mountains with lakes and tarns, providing several popular bathing opportunities.

Little can compare to a refreshing swim in crystal-clear mountain water on a warm summer day. In Gol and on Golsfjellet, you'll find countless opportunities for both young and old to enjoy a dip.

Glitre Friluftspark (Hallingdalselva)
If you're looking for a bathing spot with many amenities suitable for the whole family, Glitre Friluftspark is perfect for you. Here, you can find toilets, bathing pools, natural slides, and rapids. There's a well-maintained lawn with benches, a large barbecue area, and naturally created sunbathing spots. Additionally, there's a volleyball court and a park. You can find this bathing spot near Mobrua (Moen bridge), just outside Gol center (along Rv. 7 – towards Ål/Geilo).

Herad, Eiklesbrua (Hallingdalselva)
Driving from Gol towards Oslo for about 3km, you'll reach Herad. In the 40 km/h zone, take the first right until you reach a suspension bridge, visible from Riksvei 7. Here, you can swim in calm water on both sides of the bridge. On one side, you'll find a comfortable lean-to and benches to enjoy a delightful lunch.

Vermefoss (Hallingdalselva)
Drive from Gol towards Ål for about 5km. Passing through Rotnheim, you'll find a sign saying Jegleim sag. Turn right here, cross the bridge, and park. You can enjoy swimming on both sides of the bridge.

Lauvsjøen (Golsfjellet)
A beautiful bathing spot located west on Golsfjellet. Here, excellent natural conditions are suitable for everyone. A very child-friendly area with no current. You can find the bathing spot at Lauvsjøen between signposts 102 and 123. Follow the signs to Golsfjellet Vest from Rv 52. Turn off towards Lauvsjø. You can park at the intersection. From the parking, it's less than 1 km to the bathing spot, and it's best to swim on the west side of the water.

Vasskanten Marina, Tisleifjorden (Golsfjellet)
Golsfjellet's largest fjord offers excellent and well-equipped conditions for swimming. There are several options around the entire fjord, and one of the most popular areas is near Oset Fjellhotell (rental of canoes, boats, kayaks, etc.). There's a small sandy beach right by Vasskanten Kafé (open in the summer). You can also hop on your bike and find a great bathing spot around Tisleifjorden. Follow Rv. 51 towards Fagernes. Turn off towards Oset Fjellhotell and follow the signs towards Oset/Osetvegen until you reach Oset Fjellhotell, where you can park. You can also drive towards Golsfjell Fjellstue and follow Tisleifjorden along the gravel road, where you'll find several bathing opportunities and parking pockets.

Feel free to visit the tourist office for information about other bathing spots. We have extensive knowledge of both river and mountain lake swimming!

See you!
