Nordlandsekspressen is a year around express boat that sails between Bodø and Sandnessjøen. During the summer there is an extra connection that sails between the smaller islands, but still between Bodø and Sandnessjøen.

The summer route runs from mid-June to mid-August on Monday to friday. On weekends you can take advantage of the regular boat routes.
If you are on a car holiday you take 2-4 days to do some island hopping. You can then start from Bodø or Sandnessjøen, but also Nesna and Ørnes are well suited (easier with parking here).
Traveling by boat means getting to places you would never be able to visit by car. Small island communities, far offshore such as Myken. Here lives approx. 15 residents, but in the summer it is a popular island to visit. Here you will find the world's northernmost Whiskey distilleries.
