The Figgjo river is temporarily closed for fishing (1/7/24) and opens partially from 11/7/24. The river is a popular sport fishing river and is one of Norway's biggest salmon rivers.

The Figgjo River runs through Ålgård and Figgjo before continuing to the coast of Jæren. The river is 42.2 km long and has a drop of 104 metres.

Fishing permits for Figgjo River are notoriously hard to get hold of, with people camping out in tents to secure themselves a permit on the 1st of May. The river is divided into zones and permits are sold at the following places.
