Muustrøparken is just a stone’s throw from Nils Aas Kunstverksted, a gallery and workshop dedicated to Nils Aas, who was born and raised in the centre of Straumen. In the park, you’ll find 12 of Nils Aas’s impressive sculptures displayed among fascinating plants and flowers. Explore a beautiful interplay between human-made art and the natural world.
The Granaelva River flows through the entire park, and the striking Muus Bridge from 1816 is a work of art in itself. Strolling along the river, admiring the sculptures, and gazing out across the fjord is a wonderful experience – and if you stop by the Flyndra sculpture, you may even hear it sing. Straumen also offers charming local shops in a picturesque setting.
The park is intended as a “Meeting Place Between Old and New Times.” At one end of the park, this concept is particularly clear: here you’ll find a mill house with both a waterwheel and a micro power station. At the other end, by the Flyndre sculpture, there is a stunning view across the Trondheimsfjord.
The park also features an amphitheatre with a stage, a skotthyll lane, a children’s play area, varied plant life, and fish in the river.
Within the park you will also find Ringstu, the oldest preserved building in Straumen.
Muustrøparken is well facilitated with gravel paths, and large parts of the park are accessible for wheelchair users.
Muustrøparken is Inderøy municipality’s official millennium site.
