For many years, Eidfjord municipality has purchased sculptures in connection with the annual sculpture exhibition by the Norwegian Sculptors' Association in the center of Eidfjord.

After a long-term collaboration with the Norwegian Sculptors' Association, this collaboration has now ended. The Eidfjord municipal council then decided that a final sculpture should be purchased which would invite to activity and play to be placed outside the town hall. The choice fell on Viel Bjerkeset Andersen who has created the sculpture Segmentum Lunaris specially intended for the millennial city outside the town hall in 2017. The sculpture can change shape by turning the inner part. The sculpture is very popular and there is often activity around it both as a playground, sitting area and dining area. The sculpture also contains stone from Eidfjord.
