Canyoning is an exciting activity for those who want to get close to nature.
Experience nature up close with canyoning – an active and thrilling journey through river gorges involving climbing, abseiling, swimming in natural pools, and jumping from cliffs. The activity offers both a strong sense of achievement and memorable nature experiences in a spectacular river landscape.
At Sjoa Familierafting, canyoning takes place in a regulated river gorge. The trips follow nature’s own formations and give participants varied challenges in a dramatic river environment, and are tailored to each group based on skill level, water conditions, and preferences. You decide how challenging you want the experience to be.
Safety is ensured by experienced guides who stay close to the group throughout the trip and adjust the pace and challenges to the abilities of the participants. All necessary equipment, such as helmets, life jackets, and wetsuits, is included. Canyoning is best suited for active participants without a fear of heights.
Practical information
Canyoning can feel cold, and it is recommended to wear warm base layers under the wetsuit – preferably thermal underwear or wool. Please note that your clothes will get wet during the activity.
Participants usually need to arrange their own transport from Varphaugen to the starting point. Contact the organizer if you need assistance with transport, and they will try to find a solution.
Sjoa Familierafting has a special focus on family-friendly experiences and offers activities adapted for families with children up to 15 years old.
