Dreaming of authentic, locally sourced food experiences set in a stunning cultural landscape? The Golden Detour, nestled in the heart of Trøndelag, offers everything from award-winning cheeses and traditional sodd to craft beer and aquavit deeply rooted in local history.
Innherred is famous for its signature dish, sodd – a must-try for any food lover. This classic soup, made following an ancient recipe, is a cornerstone of local cuisine. Inderøy Slakteri carries on this proud tradition, and you can enjoy Inderøy Sodd at various restaurants by arrangement.
Gangstad Gårdsysteri has won numerous awards for its handcrafted cheeses, including Nidelven Blå, named World Champion Cheese 2023 at the Cheese World Cup. Visit Trøndelag’s first farm dairy to enjoy their cheeses, delicious ice cream, and refreshing drinks in a picturesque farm setting. You might even bring home a taste of Inderøy!
Berg Gård transforms meat from their own farm into mouthwatering sausages infused with farm-grown caraway and other exciting spices, along with traditional Christmas ribs and pork chops.
The farm also produces Inderøy Brenneri aquavit, reviving a historic tradition, as well as products under the brand Inderøy 64° North, including the world’s northernmost cold-pressed extra virgin rapeseed oil and handcrafted mustard – made from Norway’s only homegrown mustard seeds.
Stop by Landhandleriet, their charming farm shop, for a true taste of Inderøy.
Inderøy Mosteri creates apple juice, cider, and other fruit-based beverages with passion and care, grown in one of the world’s northernmost commercial apple orchards. The short yet intense growing season, paired with long, bright summer nights, results in apples that are crisp, tart, and naturally sweet.
In the past, every farm had its own beer recipe and secret ingredients. Today, Inderøy Gårdsbryggeri carries this tradition forward.
For them, brewing is a true craft – using only simple tools in production. As Norway’s only brewery with self-produced malt and hops, they offer a beer brewed 100% from their own ingredients, giving it a unique and authentic flavour.
Beyond beer, they also produce mead made with Inderøy honey, as well as cider and apple juice from locally grown apples.
At Berg Gård, the long-lost tradition of aquavit distilling has been revived, inspired by Inderøy-grown caraway. 119 years after the last bottle was filled at Sundnes Distillery, the craft lives on at Berg Gård with passion and rediscovered knowledge. What could be a better pairing for a festive rib meal than aquavit and pork from the same farm?
It takes 12 minutes to drive the E6 between Røra and Vist. The Golden Detour takes just 8 minutes longer… or a day, a week, a whole summer, even a lifetime.
Welcome to a flavourful journey along The Golden Detour!
