Visit our idyllic lodge in the untouched and silent Tverrdalen. The only way to get there is by foot, skiing or dog sledding since motorized transportation is not allowed here. This trip provides a very special opportunity to experience the Svalbard wilderness in all its splendor with the help of our furry four-legged friends.

With Husky Travellers you will join our experienced and knowledgeable guides - with a passion for dog sledding. We own a small dog yard, and not too many dogs, and we therefore get to give every single dog the attention and love they deserve. We are also extremely proud of our dogs that have joined the world’s longest dog sledding race, Iditarod, and that have been on several expeditions to the North Pole.

Day one we'll travel through wide valleys and over glaciers. Lunch will be served close to a very beautiful ice cave which we will visit. Thereafter we continue over a mountain pass with spectacular views before we sled down to our cozy lodge in Tverrdalen, where no other human installations exist. Here we enjoy the fire in the oven and relax with a better meal while our faithful huskies placed outside around the lodge serve as our trustful polar bear guards.

When darkness arrives, the non-existing light pollution from human settlements makes this the ideal place to explore northern lights!

Day two we leave the lodge and dogsled home, taking a different route to explore even more of Svalbard's fascinating landscape. The second day on the sled is even more fun, when you and you dog team has found your rhythm and you are more relaxed on the sled.

We pick you up at your place of accommodation in Longyearbyen at 10 am on day 1 and drive to our husky kennel located 12 km outside Longyearbyen. Here we will inform you about the trip, equipment, and safety. Then we dress you up with warm clothes and shoes, make the sleds ready and harness the dogs. The trip is a round trip with the night spent in our lodge in Tverrdalen. Day 2 we will take another route home, and expected arrival at your place of accommodation in Longyearbyen is approximately 6 pm.

You do not need any previous experience from dog sledding to participate, but you should be in average good physical shape. The weather in the Arctic is unpredictable and can change within a few hours. With cold temperatures and wind the weather can be challenging.

Minimum age: 12 years. If younger contact us for a tailor-made family trip.

Weight limit: 110kg per person

Important information: Minimum number of participants is 2. In cases of only 1 participant the trip will be cancelled or completed with an additional added fee. The guests will get an insulated very warm overall, winter boots, mittens and hat from us, but must bring warm undergarments (preferably wool). Sleeping bag, all meals and rescue guarantee for Svalbard are covered by us during the trip.
