This tour is conducted by Tromsø Safari.This Midnight Sun hike and sami culture tour includes an introduction to the Coastal Sami culture through stories. Seeing interesting sights on our mountain hike to look for the Midnight Sun shining over the Lyngen Alps.
Not far away from Tromsø in a hidden fjord, you will find an Arctic paradise that remains largely untouched. This is where we offer you Tromsø’s best kept secret, consisting of the best North Norwegian hospitality and warmth at the end of the road, where the scenery is at its most spectacular.
The tour starts with a scenic drive between fjords and mountains. On arrival at the start of the hike, your guide explains about the hike. You will also hear tales about the Sea Sami history of the area. You then head off on our longer hike towards the mountain pass, giving you a superb view of some of the highest peaks in Northern Norway, the Lyngen Alps, bathing in the golden glow from the Midnight Sun.
This is a medium level hike, but you sure will be rewarded for your effort. We stop during the walk to investigate interesting and unique Sami sites, enjoy the scenery, take photos and learn more about our magical place and the Arctic environment. During a longer break, we serve hot drinks and snacks.
9pm (21.00) depart Tromsø
10pm (22.00) arrive at starting point for the walk
10-10:30pm (22-22.30) short hike to the old Sami Camp
11pm (23.00) longer hike to mountain pass for view of Lyngen Alps
1am (01.00) return from hike and depart for Tromsø 2am (02.00) arrive back in Tromsø
