The pilgrimage trail through Halden is approximately 50 kilometers long, starting / ending at Elgåfossen (waterfall) - just at the border to Sweden.

The Pilgrimage trail through Halden is approximately 50 kilometres long and begins/ends at Elgåfossen Waterfall, located right next to the Swedish border.

From the border waterfall, the Borgleden Pilgrim Path follows the Iddefjord and Norwegian National Road 220 through the centre of Halden before continuing towards Sarpsborg and all the way to Oslo.

The first section of the route, as far as Snekketorp in Idd, is shared by the Borgleden Pilgrim Path and the Coastal Trail. Just before Bakke, the Pilgrim Path also joins Charles XII's Road, and the two routes run parallel as far as Fredriksten Fortress.

The walk through Halden takes you past sites of ancient history, historic landmarks, and places connected to more recent history.

Along the way, you will find several information boards for the Borgleden Pilgrim Path, the Coastal Trail, and Charles XII's Road. Accommodation options include Bråtorp Camping, Bakke Camping, Langholmen Camping, a pilgrim hostel, and hotels in Halden. The town also offers a variety of restaurants and cosy cafés.

We wish you a pleasant journey!
