Yurt - In the Ocean gap

Want to try something new? How about accommodation in a yurt in the ocean gap north of Tromsø. Here you will find peace, raw nature and experiences for both young and old in a spectacular nature with exiting coastal history and close up wildlife.

Bring your family, friend, girlfriend or group of friends for a different stay.
Experience a spectacular Arctic Archipelago from our outfield camp located on the shore of beautiful Rebbenesøy. Here we offer accommodation in specially designed yurts, where you literally have both the sea and a great hiking terrain right on your doorstep. The island has what you need for a memorable holiday and wonderful breaks from everyday life, if so only for a weekend. The island has its own small grocery store and sales of fuel, medicine, and some fishing equipment. This summer, a small café on the island will also open. The island offers beautiful mountain hikes with spectacular views, beautiful coral beaches, exciting deep-sea fishing and rich coastal and cultural history. In winter it is also great to go snowshoeing or skiing.

Our host also has guide expertise, and is happy to take you on a paddle trip. If you want a complete tour package where everything is included, feel free to check out our other offers.

Our 2 yurts
Our yurts are like modern nomadic tents, they have a glass dome in the ceiling, are rustic, at the same time very comfortable with a cosy atmosphere. Each yurt has four beds with options for extra guests to sleep on mattresses on the floor. The beds are made up and the duvets and pillows are of high comfort and quality. The yurts are insulated and heated with wood-burning stoves and paraffin stoves, and comfortable even in winter. The fully equipped kitchen has a gas oven and a gas fridge with a mini freezer. In each yurt it is also possible to have a dining table for up to 8 people. Each yurt also has a "sitting area" with two comfy armchairs. The camp is not connected to an electricity supply or have tapwater. We use solar energy and wind power and we collect rainwater and wintertime fetch water from a stream. There are no modern distractions such as TV, radio and Wi-Fi, but it is possible to charge devices such as mobile phones, iPads, headlights and the like. The yurts are allergy friendly, so smoking and pets are not allowed. The yurts have an area of 29m2, with plenty of space for clothes, backpacks, equipment and at least a cozy get-together place.

Boathouse
The camp also has a boathouse with a nice atmosphere and space for groups up to 14 people. The boathouse has a compost toilet, no shower so we use the principle of “cat wash/easy wash” or a fresh dip in the sea or use the nearby stream. Further the boathouse is used for storing equipment, "office" and there is plenty of space for drying equipment.

Access to the camp
The camp does not have road access, but here you come through a 15 min walk on a slightly hilly path. In winter it is sometimes necessary to use snowshoes or skis and remember headlamps because out here there are no external light sources, making the place perfect for watching Northern Lights or stargazing.

Unique closeness
The location of the camp and the accommodation itself provides a unique proximity to nature, but also a great community with those you travel with. This is the place for you who want to experience - peace, quietness, weather, the year's various peculiarities, northern lights and midnight sun. Here you can choose between easy to more challenging trips both at sea and on land, in a magnificent Arctic Archipelago with exciting coastal wildlife and coastal culture.
