Experience the Ofotbanen Railway and the Navvy Road with a local guide

The excursion starts at Narvik Railway station, where you will be met by a local host before you embark on a 30 minute long train journey along steep mountains with a spectacular view of the Rombaksfjord.

This experience is available for groups (10-30 people) on request)

We disembark at Katterat station, a station where you only can arrive by foot or train.

The tour continues along Rallarveien - The Navvy Road, great nature experiences are waiting for you while walking in the footsteps of the navies and the local host will tell you all about the history of the road and the area. The Navvy Road is the old construction road used by the navvies while building the Ofotbanen Railway before the 1900 century.

The vegetation is lush, and the waterfalls along the road are spectacular. The Navvy Road ends in beautiful Rombaksbotn, where the navies once lived. All the houses are gone now, but the whisper from the ancient history is still present. And the wild scenery, with 1500 meters high mountains rising up from the bay makes a perfect background to the fascinating area.

In Rombaksbotn there will be a bon-fire serving coffee and some snacks. After the bon-fire you will be picked up by a RIB boat and you will get to experience Rombaksbotn from the seaside, before transfer back to Narvik by bus.
