Attention: Due to renovation works at the Historical Museum, the exhibition Transformation - faith and sacred objects in the Middle Ages is closed until further notice. The exhibition Arctic: Populations of the Artic and sub-Arctic areas is closed between 20 January and 9 February.
The Historical Museum is located in one of Oslo's most beautiful jugend buildings, and shows permanent and changing exhibitions on four floors.
The ground floor is home to large collections from the Middle Ages, gold and silver treasures, and the interdisciplinary exhibition Collapse.
The ethnographic exhibitions on the second and fourth floors exhibit Egyptian mummies and Antique art, as well as items from Arctic expeditions and African, American and East Asian cultures.
