Hjerkinn Fjellstue & Fjellridning

Hjerkinn Mountain Lodge at Dovre is Norway’s oldest family business, and it’s the 12th and 13th generations, Anne, Anne Stine, Martin and family that welcome you to the coach house and mountain farm, 1000 meters above sea level.

We have recently been affiliated with the TV shows “Ingen grenser” (No Limits), “71 Degrees North – Celebrity Edition” and “Jenter på hjul” (Girls on Wheels).

Accommodation

The lodge has 2 suites / self-catering apartments, 26 newly-renovated hotel rooms and 12 low-price bunk-bed rooms in the annex. There’s a dining room for 70 guests, a meeting room for up to 35 guests, lounge with a fireplace and a fully licensed bar, “Fantestua” – a room for gatherings of up to 20 people, campsite, outdoor bubble bath, sauna and a massage chair. The hotel has a relaxed atmosphere and we serve traditional Norwegian cuisine.

Horse-riding holidays

We have riding tours for novice and experienced riders, children and adults. The age limit is 12 years, but we make exceptions for children of 10 to 12 years that have taken a riding course or equivalent, . Each day we divide into groups according to experience, each with its own pace, letting riders get the most out of their riding trip. Try ambling, trotting and cantering.

We ride across fields, in the mountain and across rivers, following beautiful trails through the birch forests. On one of our day trips (weather permitting) we ride into the musk oxen’s domain, on the look out for musk oxen, wild reindeer and horses grazing in the mountain pastures.
