Sjømilitære Samfund was founded in Stavern in 1835. When the Norwegian Navy's main base moved to Horten, the society followed. The present main building was completed in 1883 and became a gathering place for naval officers, dinners and social events. Today, guests can stay in the heart of this maritime heritage district.
