M/S Brekke on the Halden canal

It is with regret that we must announce that MS Brekke will not have schedule departures in the Halden Canal.
This is based on the fact that Haldenvassdraget's brugseier association (which has the "water rights") will lower the water level in the canal to a very low level, this due to the safety around the construction of a new dam at Svanedammen in Tistedal.
This applies to the years 2022, 2023 and most likely also 2024.
At such low water level, MS Brekke cannot float in Vade, into Brekke locks or any of the other narrow and shallow parts.
This is of course not easy after two years of covid19 pandemic - so they have decided to stop their business.
But there are boat trips on the Halden Canal
At the present time, boat trips have been set up with a starting point in Ørje for those who want to take a boat trip with the steamboat DS Turisten.
