Opus XVI, an Edvard Grieg Heritage Hotel

Opus XVI is an Edvard Grieg Heritage Hotel, a classic yet modern take on the luxury hotel experience, located in the very heart of Bergen.

Hotel, events, restaurant and cultural arena. 
As relatives of the famous composer Edvard Grieg, our desire is to create a one of a kind hotel experience that offers our guests a taste of the composer’s remarkable life, his relationships and his unique life story told in our inhouse exhibition based upon his A minor concert, op. 16.

The hotel is housed in a historic and listed building from 1876, originally built as a bank. The spacious lobby used to be the main bank hall with coloumns and stucco lustro walls. The hotel has a restaurant, bar, local art exhibition, fitness room, meeting and banqueting facilities perfect for weddings and private celebrations.

Rooms & Suites
Opus XVI offers 65 unique and luxurious rooms & suites, each room individually designed. The unique architecture allows us to have an excellent variety of rooms and room layouts facing different streets and sights in Bergen. Enjoy the view towards Mount Fløyen or stay in a room overlooking the plaza of Vågsallmenningen or the Fish Market. Our wish is to preserve and cultivate the unique identity of the building and its history as well as making your stay with us something to remember.

All rooms has a wardrobe, workdesk, seating area, big flat screen TV with cromecast, tablet for personal use, minibar with drinks and snacks, safe, coffee/tea making facilities, iron/ironboard. The bathrooms has toiletries and walk-in rainfall shower. All rooms has dedicated WiFi access.

All suites has a separate bedroom, a bath tub in addition to walk in rainfall shower, livingroom with sitting area, some also with dining table and guest restroom.

A notch above, Superior rooms. Size: 20-24 sqm/215-258 sqf. Unique rooms with dedicated seating area.
A taste of luxury, Deluxe rooms. Size: 23-29 sqm/247-312 sqf. Same level of comfort as our suites.
One of a kind, Mini Suite. Size: 37 sqm/397 sqf. Sitting area in a small niche, sofabed and same level of comfort and luxury as our larger suites.

Suite Ingeborg. 35 sqm/378 sqf. Facing Vågsallmenningen with panoramic windows, you can enjoy the citylife from your comfortable livingroom.
Suite Maren. 38 sqm/409 sqf. Facing Vågsallmenningen, livingroom with seating area and sofabed.
Holberg Suite. 44 sqm/475 sqf. Facing Skostredet, view of Mount Fløyen and Vågsallmenningen. The suite can be connected to a double room, turning it into a two bedrom, two bathroom suite.
Suite Colonialmajoren. 62 sqm/671 sqf. Facing Skostredet, view of Mount Fløyen and Vågsallmenningen. Including a separate room with workdesk, wardrobe, sofabed in addition to separate bedroom. Livingroom with seating area, dining table and guest restroom.
Suite Peer Gynt. 69 sqm/742 sqf. The perfect Wedding Suite! Two storey suite, bedroom with Canopied Grand King Bed and make up table. Livingroom with  seating area, dining table and guest restroom.

Breakfast
A norwegian buffet breakfast and a la carte breakfast dishes is included in all our room rates.
