Meet and feed reindeer near Tromsø, learn about Sámi culture and reindeer herding, and enjoy a traditional Sámi lunch of bidos.

This tour is operated by Tromsø Lapland.

The camp is located around 50 minutes from Tromsø city centre, in a beautiful valley surrounded by mountains and Northern Norwegian scenery.

Here, you will meet a herd of more than 120 reindeer. You can feed the reindeer, see them up close and take photos in the peaceful surroundings.

After visiting the reindeer, you will gather inside the lavvu, a traditional Sámi tent. A Sámi guide will share stories about Sámi culture, traditions and everyday life as a reindeer herder. You will hear about reindeer herding, traditional stories and customs passed down through generations. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions.

A traditional Sámi lunch of bidos will be served. Bidos is a warming reindeer stew made with potatoes and carrots. A vegan and gluten-free alternative is also available.

Latest meeting time and place: 12:45 PM (12:45) at Radisson Blu Hotel Tromsø, Sjøgata 7, 9259 Tromso. Look for a guide wearing a blue luhkka – the traditional Sami poncho

Departure time: 1 PM (13:00) from Radisson Blu Hotel. The bus departs promptly at the scheduled time, so we kindly ask all guests to arrive well in advance
