Meet and feed reindeer near Tromsø, learn about Sámi culture and enjoy traditional bidos, with a chance to see the Northern Lights.

This tour is operated by Tromsø Lapland.

The camp is located around 50 minutes from Tromsø city centre, surrounded by mountains and beautiful Northern Norwegian scenery. Here, you will meet a herd of more than 120 reindeer. You can feed the reindeer, see them up close and take photos in peaceful, natural surroundings.

After visiting the reindeer, you will gather inside the lavvu, a traditional Sámi tent. Sámi guides will share stories about Sámi culture, traditions and everyday life with reindeer. You will also learn how these traditions are being passed on today.

A traditional Sámi dinner of bidos will be served. Bidos is a warming reindeer stew made with potatoes and carrots. A vegan and gluten-free alternative is also available. This consists of a Norwegian-style vegetable soup made with potatoes, swede, carrots, onion, leek, seasoning and stock.

The camp is located away from the brightest city lights. If the weather and aurora activity are favourable, you may also see the Northern Lights during the evening.

Please note:

• The Northern Lights are a natural phenomenon, and sightings cannot be guaranteed.
