Restaurant Julie at Union Geiranger Resort & Spa serves lunch and à la carte dinner with views of the Geirangerfjord, made from scratch.

Restaurant Julie is the brasserie and à la carte restaurant at the family-owned Union Geiranger Resort & Spa, with sweeping views of the Geirangerfjord and the mountains beyond. The restaurant is open to hotel guests, visitors and locals alike, offering good meals throughout the day in a relaxed and elegant setting.

Lunch and dinner
For lunch, from noon to 4 pm, the restaurant serves a seasonal menu built on ingredients and inspiration from the Norwegian landscape. From 5 pm to 9:30 pm, Restaurant Julie switches to à la carte dining in the evening, with a menu that combines Norwegian produce with influences from European cuisine. The result is a modern brasserie style where quality lies in the ingredients, the craftsmanship and the details.

A concept by Odd Ivar Solvold
Restaurant Julie's concept is created by Odd Ivar Solvold, the hotel's F&B director and one of the most decorated chefs in Norwegian gastronomy. Solvold is a three-time Norwegian champion in culinary arts, has been named Chef of the Year and Norway's best seafood chef, and took bronze at the Bocuse d'Or.

Over several decades, he has also distinguished himself as a mentor and coach at the highest level of international culinary competition. He is closely involved in developing the food and drink concepts at Union Geiranger and in training the kitchen and service teams, guided by a clear philosophy: good ingredients, skilled craftsmanship and people who are passionate about their trade should form the foundation of the entire dining experience.

The legacy of Julie
Restaurant Julie is named after Julie Mjelva, who bought the hotel in 1899 and laid the foundation for what is today the family-owned Union Geiranger Resort & Spa. With ambitions for quality, hospitality and development, she set standards that have followed the hotel through four generations.

Today, that legacy meets a modern restaurant concept shaped under Odd Ivar Solvold's culinary leadership. Restaurant Julie brings together two defining elements of Union Geiranger: a strong family heritage and ambitious gastronomy. History lives within its walls, while the kitchen looks firmly to the future.

Pairing with the meal
Restaurant Julie has an extensive wine cellar with over 7,000 bottles, and several dishes are designed to be paired with a good selection of wines.
