Rosvollhaugen gives you an unbeatable view over the open sea and horizon to the west, and the mountains to the east, at 55 metres above sea level.
Rosvollhaugen is the highest point in the Sør-Smøla landscape conservation area, 55 metres above sea level, and the walk up makes for a lovely family outing. The walk starts at Rosvoll vicarage, part of Nordmørsmusea and located along the Coastal Pilgrims' Route. From the vicarage you follow a marked path, and it takes around 15 minutes to reach the top.
The walk isn't long, but the terrain can feel a little unfamiliar on otherwise flat Smøla, with a short climb towards the top. Once the climb begins, you can choose between two steeper paths, or take the gentler path round to the right.
From the top you have views over the open sea and horizon to the west, and the mountains to the east. Because the rest of Smøla is so flat, this small hill becomes one of the best spots on the island to take in the landscape in every direction.
Here you'll also find a wind shelter that protects you from the wind whatever direction it's blowing from, a good spot to settle down with a packed lunch.
The walk is suited to any time of year, and a decent pair of shoes will get you far.
