Enjoy a visit to the Gulating – Western Norway's parliament and court for 400 years. The thing, or legislative assembly, convened in Eivindvik and Flolid. In the village of Eivindvik, you'll find stone crosses dating from the 10th and 11th centuries, as well as Herresalen, the former home of Dean Dahl, an important figure in the village's history. The Gulating Millennium Site (2005) at Flolid is decorated with Bård Breivik's monumental artworks commemorating the thing's importance to Norway as a nation. The Park is open to the public all year round.

Guided toursGuided tours from groups Guided tours of the Gulating or Eivindvik are available by prior arrangement. These provide an introduction to the history of the Gulating legislative assembly, the Gulating laws and the system of conscription for naval warfare – Norway's first organized system of defence. In Eivindvik, you'll also hear about Dean Dahl, and Henrik Wergeland, who visited the village in 1832 and wrote the poem "Eivindvik".
