Bamble

Vardås

Nice hiking area in Bamble, by the coast.

One of the finest peaks in Grenland can be found in Bamble. Vardås is located along the coastal path and is about 3.50 km from Buvollen where you can park your car.

From the parking lot, follow a path along the water towards Trosby Super´n. This is a real gem.

On the road to Trosby you have several rest opportunities with borders and benches. Then the trail passes through a campsite.

In several places you will find remarkably good work on the preparation of the trail. It is Bamble Turlag who has been responsible for the construction of the coastal path which was completed in 2012, with further development after that.

Terrain:

Mostly even terrain on trail and dirt road. There is no climb to speak of until the last part of the trail where the trail goes from the foot of the summit up to the vantage point at the trim post. There are a few steep knuckles along the way, but nothing more than one would expect when the trail first moves out into the woods. In general, this is a very easy trip for the whole family.

When you get to the top there are great views of the archipelago around the Melby Fjord and beyond the Bamble coast from Langesund to parts of the islands towards Kragerø. Perhaps the most beautiful viewpoint on the entire coast. In the spring of 2017, Bamble Turlag set up a photographic board at the vantage point with remarks on places you see from the top.
