Milieuvriendelijke herfstactiviteiten in Noorwegen

Herfst in Noorwegen is iets wat iedereen meegemaakt moet hebben. Laat de drukte en de files even voor wat ze zijn en geniet van het prachtige Noorse herfstlandschap in alle varianten rood, geel en oranje.

Zelfs al is het natter en kouder dan in de zomer, de schilderachtige omgeving in dit seizoen werkt geweldig rustgevend. Van jong tot oud, iedereen gaat naar buiten om activiteiten te ondernemen in de bergen en de bossen, langs de kust of in de stad. Maar het mooiste is misschien wel dat veel van die activiteiten milieuvriendelijk zijn, dat wel zeggen dat ze geen of een minieme impact hebben op lokale ecosystemen.

Noren worden steeds enthousiaster om een duurzaam en ethisch verantwoord leven te leven en steeds meer nieuwe en spannende plekken krijgen erkenning als milieuvriendelijke bestemming. Op Wereldtoeristendag, die dit jaar op 27 september viel, werd Noorwegen door de Britse website Verdict uitgeroepen tot een van de tien duurzaamste vakantiebestemmingen ter wereld.

De herfst is dus een fantastische tijd om ons land op een groene manier te ontdekken. De Noorse toeristenbureaus laten je een paar van de milieuvriendelijke hoogtepunten van dit seizoen zien.

1. Een kleurrijk avontuur op de fiets

Als je het allerbeste uit je Noorwegenbeleving wilt halen, huur je een fiets en ga je op de pedalen door een paar van de mooiste plekken van het land.

Van hoge bergen tot diepe dalen en prettig vlak terrein in de stad – je vindt altijd een route die aansluit bij hoe hard je wilt fietsen en wat je wilt zien. Het klimaat in de herfst is vaak uitermate fietsvriendelijk, vooral in het zuiden van Noorwegen.

Poets je vaardigheden op in één van de gezinsvriendelijke fietsfaciliteiten in skigebieden die over het hele land de kop op steken. Daag jezelf uit met downhill of trail cycling op flow trails of in coole fietsparken, of neem de stoeltjeslift naar de top van de berg en leef je uit op kilometerslange fietspaden. In Trysil alleen ligt meer dan 100 kilometer aan gemarkeerde en aangelegde fietspaden.

Fietsen is niet alleen lekker groen, het is ook een fantastische manier om je ongemerkt tussen de lokale bevolking te begeven. De belangstelling voor fietsen in Noorwegen is enorm toegenomen in afgelopen jaren en veel Noren verkennen hun eigen land graag vanaf het zadel van een fiets.

Enne... geen nood als je op de heuvels wat extra hulp nodig hebt: in veel plaatsen kun je tegenwoordig ook voor weinig geld een elektrische fiets huren.

2. Creëer eens wat deining

Hoe minder daglicht in de dagen, des te lager het kwik en dan zijn het alleen de allerdappersten die nog gaan zwemmen. Toch hoeft dat je er niet van te weerhouden om te genieten van de vele kraakheldere meren, rivieren en fjorden.

Voor innerlijke rust en een fotogenieke omgeving peddel je met een kajak door een fjord, heel klein onder torenhoge bergen en watervallen. En voor die broodnodige adrenalineshot ga je heftig raften op wilde rivieren.

In de herfst worden voor liefhebbers van watersporten overal in het land begeleide tours inclusief uitrusting verzorgd.

3. Ga voor groen in een museum

Is groen je kleur en cultuur, erfgoed en kunst je ding? Geen probleem. Je kunt je culturele dorst in Noorwegen laven in een breed aanbod aan musea van wereldklasse, waarvan een groot aantal is erkend als duurzame organisatie omdat ze zich voortdurend inzetten voor het minimaliseren van de impact op het milieu. In de herfst worden overal in het land nieuwe en spannende tentoonstellingen geopend.

Vergeet daarbij vooral ook niet de vele openluchtmusea, waar je beroemde beeldhouwwerken, historische gebouwen en verrassende natuurattracties kunt bewonderen terwijl je de heerlijk frisse Noorse lucht inademt.

4. Maak een memorabele wandeling

Een blije Noor is niet zelden een Noor die op een paar stevige wandelschoenen de bergen intrekt. Die ervaring en de schitterende natuur delen we graag met anderen.

Ga mee op een bergwandeling en help een handje met het bessenplukken - die manden moeten vol! In de herfst zitten de bossen namelijk vol blauwe bessen, rode bosbessen en kruipbramen.

Overigens hoef je niet echt ver buiten de stad te reizen als je ongerepte natuur om je heen wilt voelen. Net buiten Oslo, Bergen, Stavanger en Trondheim vind je ideaal wandelterrein langs fjorden, in de bossen en op de bergen.

Veel groener kunnen we het niet maken!

5. Overleef een adrenalinemuur

Noorwegen staat bekend om zijn machtige bergen, steile kliffen en fascinerende rotsformaties. Durf jij het aan om zo’n machtige wand met je blote handen te overwinnen?

Weinig geeft zoveel voldoening als de top van je klimroute bereiken. In de herfst kun je dat gevoel in talloze verschillende klimbestemmingen door het hele land najagen. Overal worden begeleide tours georganiseerd voor klimmers van alle niveaus. Wees wel voorzichtig en vergeet niet dat bergbeklimmen zonder gids is voorbehouden aan écht ervaren klimmers.

Als je met de kids op pad bent of als grote hoogte niet jouw ding is, zijn er gelukkig goede alternatieven. Je kunt bijvoorbeeld ‘me Tarzan, you Jane’ gaan doen in een openluchtklimpark. In de afgelopen jaren zijn er een paar gloednieuwe en moderne klimparken bijgekomen in Noorwegen.

6. De perfecte vangst

Een kustlijn van 101.388 kilometer, 450.000 meren en 332 verschillende vissoorten. Voor een authentieke Noorwegenervaring moet je sowieso gaan vissen.

De herfst is de beste tijd om de vangst van je leven binnen te halen. De zee zit boordevol kabeljauw, pollak en heilbot en in de meren liggen zalm en forel te wachten om uit het water te worden gehaald. Het enige wat jij nodig hebt is geduld. En ‘t is natuurlijk ook handig als je weet waar je naartoe moet.

Van het zuiden tot het noorden staan operators klaar om je mee te nemen op de vistocht van je leven.

Wees voorbereid op de weersomslag

In de herfst wordt de lucht in Noorwegen frisser en knisperend, maar tegelijkertijd wordt het weer ook natter en wilder.

Vanaf september kan het behoorlijk regenen en langs de kust moet je rekening houden met stormachtig weer.

Maar... laat je dat vooral niet weerhouden van een bezoekje aan ons noordse land. Want op zonnige dagen kun je genieten van de pracht en praal van de herfstkleuren terwijl je je koestert in het laatste zuchtje zomerwarmte.

Wat moet ik aan?

De herfst in Noorwegen vraagt om verstandige wind- en regendichte kleren.

En als je van plan bent om langere tijd in the great outdoors door te brengen, is het beter om verschillende dunne lagen wol te dragen dan één hele dikke trui.
