Het bergdorp Røros in Trøndelag neemt je mee naar een tijd waarin landbouw en mijnbouw centraal stonden.

Je kunt gemakkelijk direct naar Røros vliegen vanuit Oslo en de vlucht duurt ongeveer een uur. Je kunt ook vanuit Trondheim rijden, wat zo'n tweeënhalf uur duurt. Als je liever met de trein reist, kun je een trein nemen van Oslo naar Hamar en daar overstappen richting Røros, of reizen van Trondheim naar Røros.

Røros in Trøndelag is één van de oudste houten steden van Europa en een UNESCO-werelderfgoed.

Røros ontstond in 1644, na de eerste vondst van koper in het gebied. Door de jaren heen werd het een van de belangrijkste mijnsteden van Noorwegen.

Røste hyttetun og camping-cabins and camping
We would like to welcome you to Røste Hyttetun & Camping This camping site is situated in Os municipality, the most northerly municipality in the county of Hedmark. It is only 12 km to Røros, a town that appears on UNESCO's World Heritage List because of its timber-built town centre. The camping site is small and ideal for families. There are 10 cabins, from basic standard to high standard in well-equipped cabins. There are also room foe about 20 caravans. On the site there are common advantage a living room with television, a kitchen, a washing machine and a tumble drier. The sanitary conditions are of high standard. There is also a playground. Different activities, summer and winter, are within short distances. It will take you 10 minutes by car to Røros. The river Glomma runs only 150 meters from the site for those who are fond of fishing. A winter activities complex with skilifts is abot 4 km away. The camping site is in the middle of an excellent area for walking. It is 5 km to Nørdalen Nature and culture trails which was chosen to be the best outdoor area in 1995. Not far from here you can also go riding or take a trip in a dog sled in the winter.

Røros is ook een van de belangrijkste regio's in Noorwegen voor lokaal geproduceerde etenswaren.

Proef het traditionele platte gebak pjalt, vaak geserveerd met bruine kaas en producten van het biologische zuivelbedrijf van Røros. Een voorbeeld hiervan is Tjukkmjølk, een dikke gefermenteerde melk die je kunt gebruiken als yoghurt of om mee te bakken.

In de zomer kun je je aanmelden voor een lokale foodsafari en van alles proeven, van gefermenteerde vis (rakfisk) en rendiervlees tot bekroonde kazen en boerderijproducten van Eggen Gardsysteri en Galåvolden Gård.

De lekkernijen zijn het hele jaar door ook verkrijgbaar in de gezellige eetgelegenheden van de stad.

Het kale landschap en de lage temperaturen in het gebied zorgen ervoor dat voedsel langzaam groeit en een echt kenmerkende smaak ontwikkelt. Dit wordt ook zeer gewaardeerd wordt door de vele rendieren in de regio.

Let op: benader nooit wilde of tamme rendieren zonder toestemming. Als je ze tegenkomt tijdens een wandeling, ga dan rustig zitten tot ze weggaan of loop rustig weg als ze je nog niet hebben opgemerkt.

De prachtige natuur rondom Røros is ook de moeite waard om te verkennen.

Ga op avontuur in de nationale parken Femundsmarka en Forollhogna, waar je kunt hiken, mountainbiken en vissen. Of bezoek het grootste ravijn van Noord-Europa, Jutulhogget.

Als je verlangt naar een ontspannen dag aan het meer, biedt de historische M/S Fæmund II in de zomer boottochten aan op het Femundenmeer.

In Alvdal, ten zuiden van Røros, kun je ook over de op één na hoogste weg van Noorwegen naar de top van de berg Tronfjellet rijden, waar je een panoramisch uitzicht over het gebied kunt bewonderen.

Alvdal biedt ook familieplezier bij Huset Aukrust! Dit museum en activiteitencentrum viert het fantasierijke leven en werk van kunstenaar Kjell Aukrust. Bekijk de chocolademachine en verken het raketschip!

Ga langs bij Søberg Gård net buiten Alvdal voor lekkere lokale producten in de boerderijwinkel. Er is ook een kaarsengrot vol kaarsen in alle vormen en maten, en soms organiseren ze er zelfs concerten.

When Røros Copper Works built the first smelter in 1646 people came to get paid work and settle with their own farms. Røros emerged as a collection of town houses with barns and outbuildings. The mining town has preserved much of its original character with street pattern laid out in the 1600s. Its well-preserved wooden buildings from the 1700s and 1800s was the basis for the inscription on the Unesco World Heritage list in 1980. Join us on a guided tour where you get to hear more about the history behind this charming wooden town, the people who lived here and how the city has evolved through preservation and modernization! In de winter gebruiken mensen vaak een spark (stepslee) om zich door Røros te verplaatsen. Probeer het zelf en bezoek de onafhankelijke winkels en werkplaatsen die lokaal gemaakte keramiek, kleding en eten verkopen.

Omdat Røros één van de koudste steden van Noorwegen is in de winter, kun je het beste doen wat de locals ook doen: jezelf goed inpakken in wol!

De excursieboot MS Fæmund II vaart in de zomer dagelijks over het Femunden-meer. Die neemt je mee van Elgå in Hedmark tot Synnervika in de gemeente Røros, zo’n 30 kilometer van het stadje Røros zelf. Van Synnervika kun je met de bus naar Røros.

Vanuit Oslo, rijd via de E6 en Riksveg 3 via Elverum. De reis duurt ongeveer 5 uur.
De route vanuit Trondheim duurt ongeveer 2,5 uur langs de E6 en de Riksveg 30.
