Trondheim de zomer

Leuk en lekker!

© Mapbox © OpenStreetMap Improve this map

  • "Every time the sun comes up I'm in trouble" - Ingvild Hovland Kaldal.
    Trondheim
    17.07.2026 - 16.08.2026

"Every time the sun comes up I'm in trouble" - Ingvild Hovland Kaldal.

Since 2013 she has been working with charcoal drawings, and this exhibition also shows several smaller works done in pastel. In recent years she has investigated the intuitive processes of drawing, with a particular interest in the borderland between the psychic, the subconscious and the hallucinatory. Drawing functions as both a method and an investigation – an opportunity to let conscious control be lifted and let the images emerge through an intuitive process. The artist has described the process as the result of a high fever, where the fever becomes a symbol for a magical or transformative state. Her works arise in direct dialogue with the materials, where spontaneous movements and physical traces become an integral part of the expression. The physicality of drawing and using the body in large and small movements to express oneself becomes a meditative practice where the body's capacity and intuition are attached to the sheet. Traces of this process, such as scratches, fingerprints, stains and tears, become part of the finished work. Like the artist, the medium is also shaped by its surroundings in the process of creation, there is a mutual influence between the work and the world. With an approach that encompasses both the vulnerable, the humorous and the absurd, Kaldal investigates how inner experiences can emerge in visual form. Her artistry is characterized by a willingness to work closely with the unpredictable, where process and presence are as central as the finished work. Ingvild Hovland Kaldal (b.1985 Trondheim) lives and works in Malmö, SE. She has a master's degree from the Malmö Academy of Fine Arts (2015). She participated in the 2016 Drawing Biennale in Oslo, and has participated in solo and group exhibitions in Norway, Finland, Germany and the USA in addition to Sweden. In Trondheim, she has previously exhibited at Galleri Blunk (2007).

    Brother | The Antiquarian | 24 July

The Sørland band Bror represents the big brother many wish they had – the one who always has a guitar on his shoulder and a story lurking. He sits by the fire and makes people listen; sometimes you laugh, other times the words sit like a little lump in your throat. With richly illustrated narratives, everyday observations and a unique ability to create recognition, the band conveys stories that are experienced as both personal and universal. Inspired by the Norwegian folk song tradition, Bror continues the legacy of Ole Paus and Lillebjørn Nilsen, while also making their own mark with new perspectives and a modern soundscape. In May, the band released their second EP - Samvirkelag. With warmth and thoughtfulness, Bror puts words to the familiar and recognizable, and invites the listener into a universe characterized by calm, reflection and presence. The winter of 2026 has been an active period for the band, with concerts at festivals in Oslo, recommendations from P3 Urørt on all songs from the debut EP "Veiviser", as well as a sold-out concert at Vaktbua in Kristiansand and a support job for Delillos at Kick Scene. The audience can expect an evening of intimate stories, musical presence and songs that strike a balance between the everyday and the timeless.

ROHEY TAALAH and the Trondheim Soloists

Critically acclaimed Rohey Taalah meets the Trondheim Soloists for an intense and atmospheric concert experience where old classics are given new life. One of the country's very best soul and jazz vocalists interprets some of the most beautiful songs of all time about how infinitely beautiful and painful love can be - and you can experience it from the front row at Vår Frue kirke on August 3rd! Together with the Trondheim Soloists, Rohey performs Joni Mitchell's "Both Sides Now" as well as a bunch of other classic songs, beautifully arranged by Martin Myhre Olsen. "One of the country's strongest voices, which shows that there can still be a lot of life left in old songs," wrote Dagsavisen when the constellation held a concert during the Oslo Jazz Festival in 2025. ROHEY TAALAH is an award-winning jazz and soul vocalist known from the band Gurls, which won the Spellemannprisen for jazz album of the year in 2018. She has been with the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra on several occasions and has also sung with Bigbang and Jarle Bernhoft and warmed up for a-ha in Spektrum. TRONDHEIMSOLISTENE is recognized for representing chamber music at the highest level. Passionate performances, innovation and an inherent musicality are key words, whether they make critically acclaimed recordings, play live from Lofoten to Berlin or form meaningful collaborations with musicians from all disciplines. Today's artistic director, Guro Kleven Hagen, continues the development of TrondheimSolistene as a top professional ensemble with great international recognition. The concerts are characterized by mood, spontaneity and intensity.

LIVING ON - about life after July 22

In the monologue performance "To live on," we meet the sister who was on Utøya with her brother. She was 17 years old, he was 23. The brother never came home again. She lives on, but the experiences from the terrorist attack become traumas that affect every part of her life. At the same time, she witnesses Norwegian society becoming more polarized, and the perpetrator's extreme views gaining traction in more and more people. Her frustration grows, pushing out feelings she has not previously been able to face. She faces a showdown. Welcome to the difficult room. "To live on" is written and directed by Nina Wester based on conversations with a family from Northern Norway who lost one of their own on Utøya. The monologue reflects experiences after the terror, and experiences from the attack that occurred on Utøya. The performance is mainly made for a young audience with no memories of their own from July 22, 2011. NORWEGIAN, SWEDISH AND DANISH - Live at Nye Hjorten Teater

Have you heard the one about the Norwegian, the Swede and the Dane who met at Nye Hjorten Teater? This is not a joke, but on the contrary a very entertaining and topical meeting between three strong voices from Scandinavia – and one of the most popular podcasts in the Nordic region. The Norwegian, the Swedish and the Danish is a weekly radio program and podcast broadcast on NRK (Norway), SR (Sweden) and DR (Denmark). Here, Hilde Sandvik (Norwegian journalist and presenter), Åsa Linderborg (Swedish author and public debater) and Hassan Preisler (Danish playwright and cultural figure) meet to discuss politics, culture and society – with both seriousness, brotherly teasing and a lot of humor. For Olavsfest 2026, the trio will return to Trondheim for the fourth year in a row. Previously, they have filled Byscenen and Palmehaven, but in 2025 they found a new home at the lovely Nye Hjorten Teater. Expect entertaining "family therapy" between neighboring countries! With sharp analyses, humor and deep understanding of society, The Norwegian, the Swedish and the Danish give the audience a different and thought-provoking experience – and a breather in the midst of the seriousness of the world. Possible guests will be announced later.

Concert time: 11:30 13:30 Duration approximately 20 minutes. amaida. is an Oslo-based Cameroonian-Norwegian artist, who blends rnb, soul and funk with honest reflections on her unique journey. Through her music, she creates a sanctuary for overthinking and highly sensitive souls, offering a safe space to feel, reflect and heal. amaida.'s heartfelt melodies and lyrics tackle the complexities of human emotions, inviting listeners to embrace their vulnerability and find solace in the music. Audiences have drawn parallels between amaida.s sound and artists like Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill, Jazmine Sullivan and Yebba. Add a little emotional turbulence in a familiar Gen Z style and you have amaida. The 23-year-old from Trøndelag made an impression at last year's Vill Vill Vest, her first festival, where she received a 10/10 from Musikknyheter. They predicted that she would soon take to bigger stages, wrote that "it's not easy to see what amaida. lacks as an artist" and encouraged record labels to be the one who "runs the fastest with a pen in hand". The debut single "the dark side of the moon", released in April 2025, was described by Pulsmagasinet as "a debut that smells like stardust", and was recommended on NRK P3 Urørt. Now amaida. is working on her debut EP "21st century love", and plans to release the next single in the spring of 2026. The concert is included in the admission ticket to Rockheim. Experience concerts with Marie Skagemo in the Hall of Fame exhibition twice daily during the period July 20 - 25 and get closer to one of the new voices in Norwegian popular music! Concert time: 11:30 13:30 Duration approximately 20 minutes. Marie Skagemo is a vocalist and songwriter from Fredrikstad, now living in Kristiansand. With warm tones and lyrical songs, she creates a close and modern folk pop expression, inspired by folk singers such as Frida Ånnevik and Trygve Skaug. Her music is based on the intimate and everyday, and conveys relationships and emotions with honesty and presence. In 2025 she debuted with the album Jeg hadde elsket å elske deg, recorded together with her acoustic guitar trio. The album contains both the gentle and the more insistent expression, and shows the breadth of Skagemo's songwriting. Since the release, she has played concerts and festivals all over the country, establishing herself as a strong communicator on stage. At the same time, she is now working on a new project, which will be recorded this summer. Here, she explores new aspects of her musical expression, while continuing the lyrical focus that characterizes her. A Midsummer Night's Dream - in Norwegian

Royal ShakesBEER Company presents: "Thirteenth Night or Ka di vil" by William Shakespeare translated into Norwegian by Hans-Magnus Ystgaard. Experience Shakespeare in the beautiful Herresalen – as if it were Blackfriars in London in the 17th century, with a Trøndelag twist. A shipwreck. A pair of twins separated by the sea. A girl in men's clothing, a duke with heartbreak – and a countess who falls in love with the wrong person. The Thirteenth Night is Shakespeare's sunny, intricate comedy about love gone astray, longing and laughter – about everyone who loves wrongly, and yet ends up right. Ten actors and three musicians perform the play on a budget, close to the audience, as it was in Shakespeare's time. A performance for the whole family, in one of Trondheim's most beautiful halls, during Summer in Borggården. Location: The Herresalen hall in the Archbishop's Palace (Erkebispegården) Duration: approximately 90 minutes Suitable for ages 10 and up The venue is accessible N.B. Thanks to X-stillas AS and everyone else who has contributed. Royal ShakesBEER Company is a company founded in 2025, which works based on OP, or Original Practice - that is, we try to approximate the working method we believe Shakespeare and co themselves used, as far as is possible in a Trøndelag context today.
