Op vakantie met het spoor

Steden, pretparken, buitenactiviteiten, bergen, fjorden, ... Je hebt geen auto nodig om Noorwegen te verkennen. Stap gewoon op en af bij de stations langs de Bergensbanen.

Bij elke halte zijn er nieuwe, spannende avonturen te ontdekken!

Ga met de 'koninginnen van het spoor', de beroemde machinistentweeling Halldis en Gudrun Folkedal, mee over de Bergensbanen ...

Onze reis begint

... op Oslo centraal ...

... de trein vertrekt richting het westen door de buitenwijken Asker, Bærum en Drammen en daarna komen we in een landelijk deel.

1. De Hallingdal-vallei

Na ongeveer twee uur kom je aan op het station van Flå in het adembenemende Hallingdal, een bestemming vol activiteiten voor het hele gezin.

Je kunt de beren begroeten in berenpark Bjørneparken op ongeveer 2 km van het station. Daar kun je zomaar oog in oog komen te staan met zeldzame amoerpanters, elanden, lynxen en krokodillen!

Daarna rijdt de trein door Nesbyen voordat hij stopt in Gol. Van daaruit zijn er prima busverbindingen naar ...

... Hemsedal (30 minuten verderop):in de winter één van de beste Noorse skibestemmingen en een wandelparadijs in de zomer.

Trotseer jij de coole Via Ferrata of ga je downhill mountainbiken?

De streek rond Hallingdal is een Mekka om te mountainbiken, en je kunt bij de meeste stations fietsen huren.

Ål, het volgende station op het traject, heeft behalve een pumptrackcircuit, pistes en wandelpaden ook een accommodatie die perfect is voor fietsers.

Hallingdal Feriepark ligt ook op loopafstand van het station van Ål ...

... op dit vakantiepark zijn er voor het hele gezin leuke activiteiten zoals een klimpark, een tokkelbaan, een grote binnenspeeltuin, een boerderij en nog heel veel andere dingen.

Het park ligt op één van de beste campings van Noorwegen.

2. Geilo

Het bergdorp Geilo ligt halverwege tussen Oslo en Bergen (ongeveer 3,5 uur met de trein vanuit beide steden) en is perfect voor activiteiten in de buitenlucht.

Geilo is in de winter één van de populairste skigebieden van Noorwegen, en in de zomer kun je de ...

... schilderachtige Prestholtstien-trap beklimmen naar de top van de bergketen Hallingskarvet.

Of scheer je over één van de langste tokkelbanen van Noord-Europa in Geilo Summer Park? Daar kun je je trouwens ook wagen aan downhill mountainbiken en heel veel andere activiteiten.

Je kunt bijvoorbeeld gaan vissen, paardrijden of raften - er is zo veel om uit te kiezen!

Daarna kom je heerlijk tot rust in één van de wellness hotels die Geilo rijk is.

3. Hardangervidda

Na Geilo klimt de trein omhoog naar het bergplateau Hardangervidda.

Het traject loopt langs de stations van Ustaoset en Haugastøl. Die liggen in een adembenemende natuurlijke omgeving hoog in de bergen. Daarna arriveren we bij het favoriete station van Gudrun ...

Finse is een klein bergdorp dat alleen per trein bereikbaar is.

Van hieruit start in de zomer één van de mooiste fietsroutes van Noorwegen: de Rallarvegen (in Haugastøl starten kan ook). In de winter kun je er zelfs leren snowkiten.

Wat dacht je van een overnachting in het gemoedelijke hotel Finse 1222 waar je ook ski's, kites en fietsen kunt huren of aansluiten bij een begeleide tocht?

De trein laat langzaam de bergen achter zich.

4. Fjord-Noorwegen

De historische Flåmsbana is een alom bekende spoorlijn die naar het dorp Flåm aan het Aurlandsfjord loopt.

De reis is onderdeel van de rondreis Noorwegen in een notendop waarbij je ook een fjordencruise over het Nærøyfjord maakt dat op de werelderfgoedlijst van UNESCO staat.

In de winter is de treinreis echt een avontuur!

5. Voss

Terug op de Bergensbanen naderen we nu één van de laatste grotere stations voordat we in Bergen arriveren:

Voss, de adrenalinehoofdstad van Noorwegen waar je kunt raften, skydiven, fietsen, wandelen en ...

... de Voss-gondel meteen vanaf het station nemen ...

... naar de top van de berg Hanguren op 820 meter boven de zeespiegel waar je spectaculaire uitzichten te wachten staan.
