Steeds meer mensen komen hiernaartoe voor de rust en stilte bij de meer dan 900 meren, die alleen wordt onderbroken door volksmuziek en wilde dieren.
Wat is dat voor een geluid? Een gezin van vijf wordt tweeënhalve meter boven de grond wakker in een houten huis dat is gebouwd tussen de toppen van twee enorme bomen. Een van de kinderen kijkt naar beneden en ziet daar hoe een eland en haar kalf rustig staan te eten. De permanente eetbox zorgt dat gasten dicht bij wilde dieren kunnen komen en maakt deze plek een van de vele charmante accommodaties in Femund Engerdal.
Dit gebied, gelegen tussen de grens met Zweden en de steden Trysil en Røros, telt 67 bergtoppen en twee nationale parken: Femundsmarka en Gutulia. Wandelen, kanoën en fietsen – je zult nauwelijks een gezinsvriendelijker plek vinden om dat allemaal te doen dan hier. Er zijn verschillende manieren om in Femund Engerdal te komen.
Vliegvissen op de rivieren geniet enorme populariteit. Bovendien zijn er meer dan 900 prachtige wateren en natuurlijk het op twee na grootste meer Femunden, waar je mee kunt varen op de al in 1904 gebouwde veerpont M/S Fæmund. Onder de Fæmund en in andere wateren zit forel, trekzalm, vlagzalm, houting, baars en snoek.
Femund Engerdal kreeg het certificaat Duurzame Bestemming, een keurmerk dat wordt toegekend aan bestemmingen die systematisch de negatieve impact van toerisme proberen verminderen.
In het noordelijkste deel van Femund Engerdal wonen Sami met hun enorme kuddes rendieren – je kunt ze niet missen. De lokale bevolking zal je ook van harte de producenten van lokale voedingswaren en eetgelegenheden aanbevelen, zoals Anne på Landet. Tijdens het jaarlijkse Femund Festival kun je kennismaken met de lokale bevolking – ook op de dansvloer!
Ook in de winter zijn er talloze activiteiten. Je kunt dan bijvoorbeeld gaan ijsvissen, een van de meer oorspronkelijke Noorse sporten, of langlaufen – geheide pret voor het hele gezin! Maar ook in Femund Engerdal is het op een gegeven moment tijd om naar bed te gaan. Misschien val je wel in slaap onder het zachte geritsel van vriendelijke dieren die direct onder je kamerraam staan te eten!

We are Stein Håvard and Siri, living close to nature in beautiful Tufsingdalen. Here, we live with our 40 Alaska Huskies and ten clucking egg producers. Are you interested in a unique day experience? We invite you into our home and our life. We live and breathe for our four-legged friends, and Stein Håvard has over 50 years of experience as a musher. He is one of the founders of the Femundløpet, which takes place here in the region, and has competed in both the Femundløpet and Finnmarksløpet multiple times. This has led to some fun stories! We have generations of experience with dogs and horses in transport, as well as farm life and harvesting from the surrounding land. Here, we train dogs with an ATV in the fall and spring, and with a sled in winter. Our well-trained dogs are more than ready to take us on exciting trips in the forest, mountains, and even on Lake Femunden’s ice. In October, we fish whitefish with nets from the river—guaranteed catch! This is when we gather much of the dog food we use throughout the year. Perhaps you’d like to take some fish home? We usually have at least one litter of puppies in the summer or fall, along with other small and large tasks on the farm. Or maybe a canoe trip on Tufsinga sounds appealing? We want to share our life here, our knowledge, and experiences as dog mushers and outdoor enthusiasts. There is always a warm, relaxed atmosphere here, and we keep guest numbers low so that we look forward to each visit. We also happily welcome overnight guests. We would like to welcome you to Røste Hyttetun & Camping This camping site is situated in Os municipality, the most northerly municipality in the county of Hedmark. It is only 12 km to Røros, a town that appears on UNESCO's World Heritage List because of its timber-built town centre. The camping site is small and ideal for families. There are 10 cabins, from basic standard to high standard in well-equipped cabins. There are also room foe about 20 caravans. On the site there are common advantage a living room with television, a kitchen, a washing machine and a tumble drier. The sanitary conditions are of high standard. There is also a playground. Different activities, summer and winter, are within short distances. It will take you 10 minutes by car to Røros. The river Glomma runs only 150 meters from the site for those who are fond of fishing. A winter activities complex with skilifts is abot 4 km away. The camping site is in the middle of an excellent area for walking. It is 5 km to Nørdalen Nature and culture trails which was chosen to be the best outdoor area in 1995. Not far from here you can also go riding or take a trip in a dog sled in the winter.

Per boot
Steek vanuit de haven Synnervika in het noorden het meer over op de Fæmund II, het historische schip dat in 1904 werd gebouwd en sindsdien regelmatige diensten vaart op het Femunden-meer, het op twee na grootste meer van Noorwegen.
Per vliegtuig
Tegen eind 2018 kun je landen op het gerenoveerde vliegveld Rörbäcksnäs, dat de luchthaven is voor vluchten van en naar de zogenaamde Scandinavische bergen Sälen, Idre, Trysil en natuurlijk ook Engerdal.

Over de weg
Vanuit Oslo vertrekt een paar keer per dag een snelbus naar Trysil. Vanuit Trysil pak je de bus die je rechtstreeks naar Femund Engerdal brengt.
Femund Engerdal ligt maar 280 kilometer bij Oslo vandaan en het is ook maar 270 kilometer vanaf Trondheim, de op twee na grootste stad van Noorwegen. Reistijd vanaf zowel Oslo als Trondheim is ongeveer 4 uur.
