Oost-Noorwegen wordt een echte hotspot

Ambitieuze architecten en hardwerkende chef-koks stuwen Oslo naar ongekende hoogtes. Als dit niet voldoende is om je interesse aan te wakkeren, beklim dan Noorwegens hoogste berg Galdhøpiggen en bekijk Oost-Noorwegen vanaf 2.469 meter boven de zeespiegel.

In korte tijd kom je van de charmante kustdorpjes in de regio Oslo langs de enorme bossen waar elanden wonen tot op Noorwegens hoogste en machtigste bergen in nationaal park Jotunheimen. Daar kun je zelfs over gletsjers wandelen - onder begeleiding natuurlijk.

Veel mensen beginnen hun vakantie in de hoofdstad Oslo, het belangrijkste knooppunt van het land voor binnen- en buitenlandse reizen. Hoewel Oost-Noorwegen de dichtsbevolkte regio van het land is, zijn er ook uitgestrekte gebieden met vrijwel ongerepte natuur en tal van buitenactiviteiten. Begin je avontuur met eilandhoppen, een boottocht op het grootste meer van Noorwegen of vliegvissen in de bekende zalmrivieren.

De wandelmogelijkheden zijn eindeloos, met de bergkam Besseggen als één van de vele populaire bergroutes.     De regio Oslo

    Meng je onder de plaatselijke bevolking in steden in de buurt van het Mjøsa-meer, idyllische kustdorpjes of de snelgroeiende hoofdstad Oslo. Je hebt vast nog genoeg tijd om te gaan skiën, wandelen, fietsen en vissen.

    Op de kaart strekt de regio Oslo zich uit tot ver voorbij het Oslofjord. Als je dan de verschillende plaatsen bezoekt, besef je dat ze eigenlijk maar op hoogstens twee uur rijden liggen. In feite biedt de regio Oslo een ongewone combinatie van het stadsleven en gemakkelijk toegankelijke natuur.

    Veel mensen gebruiken Oslo als uitvalsbasis waar je de bruisende cultuur, de muziek en de vele restaurants kunt ontdekken. Eetgelegenheden variëren van informele eetkraampjes in de overdekte hal Mathallen tot driesterrenrestaurant Maaemo. In 2019 krijgt Oslo de titel Europese Groene Hoofdstad van het jaar toegekend. Deze erkenning is geknipt voor een hoofdstad die genesteld ligt tussen een fjord en beboste heuvels.

    Vanuit Oslo kun je je laten leiden door je nieuwsgierigheid en interesses en je eigen routes uitstippelen naar leuke steden en plekken in de regio. Je vindt er het hele jaar door tal van mogelijkheden die je alleen hier kunt vinden: het huis van Edvard Munch, de schilder van het wereldberoemde ’De Schreeuw’, historische Vikingsites en ook activiteiten in de natuur.

    Voor de charmante kust in de buurt van de Zweedse grens moet je richting Østfold en de steden Moss, Sarpsborg, Halden en Fredrikstad. Activiteiten in het binnenland en alle mogelijke sporten vind je dan weer in Gjøvik, Hadeland, de regio Hamar en de regio Lillehammer. Neem ook een kijkje op de stranden van Asker en Follo, of bezoek de twee belangrijkste openluchtmusea van het land in Elverum.

    Ten westen van het Oslofjord vind je de mooie kuststeden Horten, Tønsberg en Sandefjord. De regio Drammen heeft geweldige natuurverschijnselen zoals de Kjøsterudjuvet-kloof. Maak het helemaal af met een uitstap naar het grootste attractiepark van Noorwegen: Tusenfryd. Of bezoek Eidsvollbygningen in Romerike, het grote herenhuis waar de Noorse grondwet ondertekend werd.

    De afgelopen jaren kende de regio Oslo een enorme groei. Toch blijft het aangename gevoel dicht bij de natuur te staan, zeker in de steden waar milieuvriendelijke waarden hoog in het vaandel staan.

    Bergen en valleien

    Ga omhoog en omlaag of zeil op de rivieren zoals in een attractiepark. In de bergen en valleien van Oost-Noorwegen moeten activiteiten in de natuur vooral leuk zijn!

    Het plattelandsleven gaat nooit vervelen in het duizelingwekkende landschap van Oost-Noorwegen. Toch vind je er ook een rust en veel frisse lucht.

    Het Gudbrandsdal is de langste vallei van Noorwegen en loopt vanuit de Olympische stad Lillehammer 240 kilometer in noordwestelijke richting. De Gudbrandsdalslågen-rivier, de Dovre-spoorweg en Noorwegens belangrijkste snelweg E6 lopen door de vallei met langs beide flanken traditionele boerderijen.

    Peer Gynt, het personage van de wereldberoemde auteur Henrik Ibsen, kwam oorspronkelijk uit het Gudbrandsdal, en elke zomer wordt het toneelstuk in Gålå in de open lucht opgevoerd.

    De andere valleien in Oost-Noorwegen zijn minstens even indrukwekkend. Dit geldt zowel voor wie van geschiedenis, kunst of cultuur houdt als voor mensen die liever in de natuur gaan wandelen, fietsen, raften of iets anders willen doen. De wildste fauna en flora vind je in de Jotunheimen-bergen, het nationaal park Rondane en het Femundsmarka-bos. Hallingdal, Numedal, Telemark en Valdres bieden allemaal verschillende activiteiten in de vrije natuur en hebben ook campings en andere accommodatiemogelijkheden.

    Je vindt in Oost-Noorwegen skigebieden van wereldklasse in Geilo, Hafjell, Kvitfjell, Norefjell Hemsedal, Savalen en Trysil. In de zomer veranderen er veel skigebieden in fietsparken.
