Dankzij stabiele sneeuwcondities en twee fantastische skigebieden is Hemsedal één van de grootste en populairste plekken voor wintersportvakanties in Noorwegen. Het bergdorpje in Hallingdal ligt halverwege tussen Oslo en Bergen in en biedt uitstekende off-piste en langlaufmogelijkheden. Maar er zijn ook tal van andere activiteiten, zoals hondensledetochten, sneeuwschoentochten, ijsklimmen en tochten in een paardenkoets door de sneeuw.

Tijdens de rest van het jaar is de weelderige en gevarieerde natuur ideaal om te gaan wandelen, klimmen, paardrijden, fietsen en… mountainbiken. Of je kunt ook gaan mountainkarten of riviersnorkelen!

Houd je van vissen, dan kun je kiezen uit 18 meren en 4 rivieren. Hemsila is één van de beste rivieren ter wereld om te gaan vliegvissen.

Rjukandefossen is één van de talrijke indrukwekkende watervallen in de regio. Het is een tweeledige waterval die door een smalle geul 18 meter naar beneden valt. In de buurt van Hydnefossen ligt één van de hoogste watervallen van Noorwegen.

Er zijn het hele jaar door dagelijkse snelbusverbindingen tussen Oslo en Hemsedal. De bus rijdt langs Oslo Airport en Hønefoss.

Rijd je vanuit Oslo naar Hemsedal, volg de E18 richting Drammen. Neem de afslag in Sandvika en volg de E16 richting Hønefoss en Fv7 richting Gol. Neem vanuit Gol de Fv52 tot in Hemsedal. De reis duurt ongeveer 3 uur.
Vanuit Bergen volg je de E16 richting Lærdal tot in Borlaug en van daar neem je de Fv52 tot in Hemsedal. De reis duurt ongeveer 4 uur.
